Tattoo FAQ

The short answer is, sometimes. We do tend to stay booked with scheduled appointments; however, life does happen. Sometimes appointments don’t show up, sometimes they will cancel or reschedule, etc etc. In the scenario that an artist has availability for walk-ins, we will take them on a first come, first serve basis. Please do not call to ask if there is walk-in availability, we have no way of predicting when people will cancel, or who will walk through the door first.
Due to the custom and unique nature of tattoos, and the high chance of miscommunications, we do not schedule appointments or provide quotes through email or phone. If you’d like to work with a specific artist on a piece, you may call the shop to schedule a preliminary consultation, which is a 30-minute meeting with your artist to discuss design, quote, and availability.

1. Decide what kind of design you want and where you want it. Gather reference photos to help your artist understand your vision.
2. Take a look at our artists’ work on Instagram, our website, or in their portfolios at the shop. Decide which artist you’d like to work with based on their specific style and expertise.
3. Come to the shop to show our professional staff what you have in mind for your tattoo. Once you’re here, we can help you decide whether to schedule a preliminary consultation or go ahead and book the actual tattoo appointment. ***if you know your tattoo will require a consultation, you may call the shop to schedule a consultation. WE DO NOT SCHEDULE ACTUAL TATTOO APPOINTMENTS BY PHONE.***
4. Our staff will schedule your consultation or take a deposit and schedule your tattoo appointment. If scheduling a consultation, see step 5. If scheduling an appointment, see step 6.
5. Come to your consultation and discuss your ideas, quotes, and time availability with your artists. During your consultation, you will be required to put down a deposit, after which, we can schedule your tattoo appointment.
6. Show up to your appointment with your ID, and your deposit slip if you were given one. Make sure you have eaten, are hydrated, and well rested.
7. Follow the aftercare instructions given by your artist.
8. Repeat 🙂

We are not in the business of wasting anybody’s time. It is very common for clients to misunderstand the complexity or size requirements for their desired tattoo. It is very important to allow our professional tattoo artists and support staff the opportunity to review a design and guide you in regards to time, pricing, sizing, etc. Because of the custom and unique nature of tattoos, and the high chance of miscommunications, we do not schedule appointments or provide quotes through email or phone; however, if you know which artist you’d like to work with, you may call to schedule a preliminary consultation, which is a 30-minute meeting with your artist to discuss design, quote, and availability.
You can view our artists’ work on Instagram at @inksomniatattoo, here on our website, or in the shop in physical portfolios

Our shop minimum is $100 and goes up depending on size, location, detail, and artist. To receive a more accurate quote, please stop by the shop to show us your design idea.

A deposit is a portion of the total cost of a tattoo that you put down in advance to reserve a tattoo appointment. Deposits are taken to ensure your artist reserves specific time to prepare for and complete your tattoo. Please understand that cancelled or rescheduled appointments disrupt productivity and affect an artist’s weekly pay. A deposit protects our artists and provides a consolation in the case of cancellations or no-shows. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable. For more information, please view our deposit policy.

You will have the opportunity to view your final design on tattoo day. Your artist will show you the design and place a stencil on you. Upon approval of design and location, the artist will proceed to tattoo you.
When you book an appointment and place a deposit, you are reserving a time slot with a specific artist for a specific design. Design changes will be considered a cancellation and will result in forfeiture of your deposit with a requirement to make another deposit for a different design.
No. Georgia law requires individuals to be of 18 years or older regardless of parental consent.
We require a valid, non-expired, government issued photo ID. We will not accept a photo or photo-copy of an ID.
We do not recommend using numbing cream for several reasons. Numbing cream changes the integrity of the skin, making it rubbery and harder for the tattoo needles to penetrate in order to deposit ink properly. In addition, numbing cream makes the skin oily, which makes it difficult to place a proper stencil, which is an incredibly important step in the tattooing process. Numbing cream also tends to last a very short period of time once it is wiped off, so the tattoo will end up hurting worse in the long run and healing poorly.
Each artist has a specific set of instructions in regards to aftercare. Please follow your artist’s recommendation for how to heal your new tattoo.

Piercing FAQ

You will need a government issued ID with your picture and your date of birth on it. A minor will need to be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian, and the legal parent or guardian will need a government issued ID in order to sign for them. Please make sure that you eat before coming in!
Healing times will vary from person to person and that will all be discussed during your visit. A great way for us to make sure that you’re healing well is to stop by and downsize you’re jewelry! Normally we can downsize after about 4-6 weeks but if your piercing is not ready we will recommend waiting a little longer. We always use a longer piece of jewelry to start with to accommodate for the swelling (which is a very normal part of the process) and we strongly recommend downsizing the jewelry to prevent excessive movement, snagging, shifting, etc.
We will use individually packaged and sterilized hollow needles to pierce you. We pierce everything by hand to ensure sterilization, accuracy and efficiency. The piercing will be performed in a sterile environment and everything is disposed of immediately after the piercing is finished.
We do not pierce with outside jewelry, but have plenty of different jewelry options to choose from. I try to incorporate new styles once every couple of weeks so there’s always something new to look at! Once your piercing is healed we can replace it with your jewelry. Jewelry changes are $10.
We pierce ages 8 and up! If you’re planning on bringing in your little one to get a piercing, I strongly recommend watching a video with them so they can see how the piercing process will go. Make sure you pre watch the video to make sure it’s not going to scare them! Come with a list of questions that you want to ask if you have any. This can calm their nerves a little bit. I would also make sure that you let them know that it WILL be a little uncomfortable, but they are fully capable of being brave and getting through it. Piercings are scary to grown adults, so it has to be scary to them! Kids often get really excited to get their ears pierced, and if they don’t understand that it may be a little uncomfortable, they will feel discouraged or really nervous about the second one. If your child goes through the first piercing and cannot handle the next one that day, we will tell you to come back when they are ready. Please do not pressure them when they are not ready.
The actually piercing part will only take about a second to do. Prepping the skin and marking the placement normally takes longer than the whole piercing procedure, jewelry included.
We do offer jewelry changes! It is $15 per session for switching out jewelry. If you’re buying jewelry from us and switching it out while you’re already paying for a piercing, there will be no additional charge for switching out jewelry for existing piercings.

All piercings are done on a walk in basis, so there is no option to book an appointment. To avoid wait times, consider coming during the week. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are normally our busiest days. All piercings and jewelry are first come first serve and we will stop accepting walk ins about an hour before we close.

Absolutely! A friend or two is totally okay during your piercing procedure. We prefer if you could leave younger kids and babies at home, but we understand if that is not an option for you. Because we have biohazard waste in our piercing room, it’s important that if you do bring your younger kids that they stay still and refrain from touching things.
We start everything off with an internally threaded or threadless titanium piece of jewelry. All of our stud options have a flat back post and you have the option of using a titanium internally threaded top or a threadless 14k yellow gold top. All piercings come with a basic titanium jewelry option included. The reason why titanium is so highly recommended is because Titanium doesn’t contain any nickel, unlike surgical steel, which makes it safe for people with sensitive skin or a nickel allergy. We can special order 14k gold posts or barbells if necessary, but anticipate a wait and an up charge.
